Roughly one year ago a devastating event known as the Cataclysm ravaged the distant region Faero, leaving hundreds dead and many more missing. In the aftermath of the chaos, half-human, half-Pokémon creatures rose from the shadows and attacked what little remained of civilization.
Now the technological marvel Millennium City stands proudly once more, and humans have returned to Faero, hidden safely behind the thick walls that shelter the city from the savage lands outside. The feral Pokémorphs still lurk out there, biding their time.
Will you venture out of the city and into uncharted territories to make a name for yourself as a Pokémorph trainer?
Pokémorph Rules « Thread Started on Oct 29, 2009, 7:55pm »
- Faero has strict rules on Pokémorphs, as they are a main focus of this site. Read the Pokémorph information topic. Pokémorphs that can turn into regular Pokemon, and characters that are basically human with cutesy ears and a tail tagged on, do not exist in Faero.
- Pokémorphs were evolved for combat, so make it show in the appearance of your Pokémorph. Perhaps they have scars? An old wound? Whatever you do, avoid making them small and adorable for the sake of cuteness. Pokémorphs are not cute and cuddly. The smallest adult Pokémorph found in the wild was six foot tall, and even they weren't flimsy. (Plus, think about it. Would a weak, cute widdle morph last a day out in the dangerous wilderness? Extremely unlikely.)
- Pokémorphs are not happy about being captured. Make it show in their personality. Do not make Pokémorphs who love to hug or cuddle their trainer, as this is not what they are like. Pokémorphs focus on instincts a lot, and despise being captured, so they are likely to disobey orders and may even turn on their trainer. Only after ages of cooperation may they take a liking to their "master."
- Your starter Pokémorph can be any "common" or "very common" Pokémorph. Faero Research Inc. does not have the funding nor the resources to offer any rarer specimens to beginning trainers.
- Pokémorphs can always perform basic attacks, like kicking, punching or scratching. These attacks are done purely on instinct and are nowhere near as powerful as actual learned abilities such as 'Scratch' or 'Focus Kick'. They are simply allowed to keep fights more interesting.
- Pokémorphs, just like Pokémon, have abilities. (A Bulbasaur morph would therefore have the "Overgrow" ability.) If a Pokémorph you bought has two possible abilities, you pick the one you like best.
- On many sites, Pokémon receive little in terms of personality other than a name. On Faero, we encourage people to flesh out their Pokémorphs as "side-characters". When you're accepted, you get a sub-board where you can post as many profiles as you want. Feel free to develop your Pokémorphs into characters of their own!
- Since Pokémorphs are so slow to gain any loyalty for their trainers, we have set levels for when morphs really warm up to their masters, so that members don't try to rush the process. At level 20, a Pokémorph will stop trying to kill their trainers at every given opportunity. (This doesn't mean they like their trainers, but they'll tolerate them grudgingly.) At level 30, Pokémorphs start to actually gain a fondness for their trainers, and treat them better. At level 40, Pokémorphs begin to really care for their trainers. Then, at level 50, a Pokémorph slowly starts to learn how to speak. This, of course, is also a gradual process, as you would expect.
By joining this site, you are promising to abide by these rules. Anyone found breaking them WILL be punished. Punishment depends on the offense.
